What will change in SmartSweets 3.0?
There’s no more carrageenan, the sour is more sour and while we will always be high in fiber, we are now using different kinds of fiber in slightly smaller quantities. All of these tweaks reflect tribe feedback, along with evolving views on what constitutes a fiber. We’re so grateful for all you have shared to help us innovate - thank YOU!-----
What will stay the same?
All the same flavour and deliciousness that you love today plus our pinky promise to you that SmartSweets will always be free of added sugars, sugar alcohols and artificial sweeteners! Our candy is still high in fiber, made with non-GMO ingredients and a radically better choice to traditional candy! There will never be any guess work - one packet = one serving!
Why have the nutritional stats changed?
New combination of advanced ingredients = different nutritional stats. We also developed a new customized nutritional test that includes a sugar molecule that standard tests leave behind, setting a new standard in the industry. Even with the shifts, our new nutritional stats remain light years ahead of traditional candy! And early tests give thumbs up the impact of our new and different fibers on the body. We can’t wait to hear what you think.
Are Canadian and U.S recipes different?
Yes the recipes vary slightly because we seized on the chance to use a new non-artificial sweetener in the U.S, Allulose - a zero GI sweetener found in nature in figs and raisins. Allulose isn’t yet available in Canada but we hope it will be one day soon! Both recipes are equally delish.
Are SmartSweets Keto friendly?
While we don’t innovate for any specific diet, we know & love that Keto folks are part of our tribe. In SmartSweets 3.0 we’ve changed the combination of fibers to reflect Keto needs and feedback. We’ve also been mindful to use low GI ingredients while using quality ingredients, 87-92% less sugar than traditional candy, no sugar alcohols and not sneakily messing with package size. portion remains is the entire packet (I mean, technically you don’t have to eat it all at once….but that’s between you and your SmartSweets!). Even though net carbs will be slightly higher in SmartSweets 3.0, we are hearing feedback that the overall impact on the body in SmartSweets 3.0 is our best yet. We can’t wait to hear how it works for you.
Why is it so important to you that SmartSweets is free from sugar alcohols?
Sugar alcohols are often used in the food industry (but not by us) to push down the net carb count. We think that this comes at waayy too high a cost to our bodies. We want SmartSweets to be friendly to our tummies so we will always be sugar alcohol free.
Why have you developed your own testing method?
We discovered that standard nutritional tests actually leave out a sugar molecule. We want you guys to know about this so our nutritional stats include all the required testing PLUS an extra sugar molecule others don’t capture.
How can I get some SmartSweets 3.0?
Small batches of most candies will be available on our websites now and in stores this springtime.
Can I still buy your current product (SmartSweets 2.0)?
You bet. We expect them to be on the shelves until they get gobbled up, likely by the spring.
How do you calculate net carbs?
Take the total carb count and subtract the amount of fiber and the amount of Allulose and you will be left with net carbs. Each pouch calls out the amount of Allulose so you will have all the info you need to make this calculation.-----
What is Carnauba Wax?
Great question! Carnauba Wax is a natural renewable resource used as a coating for our gummy bears. It is grown in Brazil and is harvested from the leaves of the Carnauba palm. The wax is harvested using traditional procedures that doesn't damage the trees. Fun fact: the use of carnauba wax creates an economic incentive to keep the trees standing.-----
Once opened, how long do SmartSweets last?
We proudly have no preservatives or additives in SmartSweets. Because our products are made with natural ingredients with no preservatives or additives, once opened SmartSweets will begin to harden if left exposed to air. When sealed, SmartSweets are shelf-stable for 1 year.-----
Are SmartSweets plant-based?
Our Fruity and Sour Gummy Bears both contain gelatin. For our plant-based products, we decided to kick gelatin too! Creating the first ever 100% plant based #KickSugar candy- Sweet Fish, Sour Blast Buddies & Peach Rings! 🌱-----
Are SmartSweets kosher?
Our Fruity and Sour Gummy Bears both contain pork based gelatin, and our Sweet Fish, Sour Blast Buddies &Peach Rings are gelatin free (pork free) but not kosher.-----

Who regulates your products?
SmartSweets products are regulated by the FDA in the US and Health Canada and CFIA in Canada. These agencies regulate the classification and labeling of ingredients, among many other things.
Has the portion size changed?
Heck no! There’s no way we are messing with portion size! Portion size is often used artfully in the food industry so that the labels are as appealing as possible. Ever noticed that the packages get suspiciously smaller over time? Or that a serving is a teeny portion of what is inside? All so the label “looks” good. Well, that’s not happening on our watch.
